User Safety Notice issued for Latchways Standard Self-Retracting Lifelines

MSA issued a User Safety Notice to inform customers that MSA has received field reports of a limited number of Latchways Standard Self-Retracting Lifelines (SRL) in which some internal bolts came loose. MSA has not received any reports of injuries associated with this condition; however, it may lead to window of time in which a fall may not be arrested.

 

Hazard Alert for dry ice and liquid nitrogen

Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) issued a Hazard Alert to inform businesses about the dangers and safety precautions associated with the use, transport, and storage of dry ice and liquid nitrogen. University units involved with COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts and research groups should take all necessary precautions when working with dry ice and liquid nitrogen.

 
 
 

New safety training reports for managers

Unit leaders, managers and supervisors have two new ways to view EH&S safety training records for all personnel within an organization code or all individuals who report to a manager or supervisor. Unit leaders, managers and supervisors can view or download a list of people who took a specific training course within a selected date range.

Training records can also be found for one or a few individuals using a UWNetID or multiple UWNetIDs separated by commas.

Working Alone Safely Focus Sheet

 

Working alone applies to work or study occurring when no other person is in direct line of sight or within hearing range of the person working. A person may work alone in a lab, office, shop or other University location, or in the field. Working alone can take place during normal working hours, as well as on evenings and weekends.
