Accident and Injury Reporting

Work-related incidents are tracked and investigated so that preventative measures can be implemented.

Accident Prevention Plan

The Accident Prevention Plan outlines policies and procedures to reduce or eliminate anticipated occupational hazards that generally apply to UW employees.

Asbestos and Other Regulated Building Materials

Building materials can contain a number of hazardous components that, if disturbed, can pose a health risk to workers and occupants.

Confined Space Program

Departments must follow the guidelines of the Confined Space Entry Program to ensure the safety of personnel working in or near confined spaces.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is the practice of fitting the job to the individual, which can help prevent work-related musculoskeletal injuries.

Fall Protection

The UW is committed to protecting employees and others from fall hazards.

Food Safety Program

The EH&S food safety program ensures UW dining facilities meet the highest standards in food safety, and protects the public from foodborne illness.

Hazardous Energy Control - Lockout/Tagout

The Hazardous Energy Control – Lockout/Tagout Program is designed to prevent injuries resulting from unexpected start-up, energization or release of stored energy during servicing and maintenance of equipment.

Health and Safety Committees

Health and safety committees share the responsibilities of implementing and monitoring the University’s health and safety program.

Hearing Loss Prevention Program

The Hearing Loss Prevention Program encourages departments to minimize the risk of noise-induced hearing loss.

Conduct a job hazard analysis to assess risks prior to starting work

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Personal protective equipment protects people from potential hazards in their work environment.

Respiratory Protection

Information for selecting, using and caring for respirators when respiratory hazards exist.

Shop and Maker Space Safety

Departments are required to develop a health and safety plan to prevent injury and exposure to hazardous materials in their specific shops and maker spaces.
