Water Quality

Updated August 22, 2024

Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) collaborates with campus partners to maintain water quality for consumption and use on campus. We conduct pool and spa inspections and can arrange for testing of drinking water as needed.

Drinking water quality

The Seattle campus receives its drinking water from the City of Seattle. Seattle’s drinking water consistently meets (and often exceeds) regulatory standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Washington State Board of Health. Water quality testing reports and analyses of drinking water sources can be found on the Seattle Public Utilities website.

All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least trace amounts of some contaminants. The presence of trace contaminants does not mean that the water is unsafe. More information about contaminants and their potential health effects can be obtained by calling the Environmental Protection Agency’s Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 800.426.4791.

Questions or concerns regarding the safety of drinking water on the University's Seattle campus should be directed to the EH&S Environmental Public Health Program.

Pool and spa water quality

We monitor water chemistry in pools and spas on campus.

Questions or concerns regarding the safety of pool and spa water on the University's Seattle campus should be directed to the EH&S Environmental Public Health Program.
