Wilderness First Aid
Intended audience
This course is recommended for University personnel who may need to provide first aid in rural areas without access to immediate assistance. Retraining is recommended every two (2) years.
Description
This course is an intensive 16-hour program designed for anyone involved in wilderness recreation or disaster preparedness for urban emergencies. It teaches about environmental and biological hazards, in-depth patient assessment, caring for injuries, and survival and evacuation. Participants receive a ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute) Wilderness First Aid certification card. This course does not include CPR training. Environmental Health & Safety provides First Aid and CPR Certification training separately.
