Shipping Regulated Medical Waste Online
Intended audience
This course is required for University personnel who package and offer untreated regulated medical and biohazardous waste for collection and shipment through a UW waste contractor for offsite decontamination and disposal. Retraining is required every three (3) years.
Description
This course teaches how to prepare regulated medical waste for collection by the University of Washington waste contractor in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. The course includes hazard awareness, safety procedures, function-specific shipping preparation, and security awareness.
This course does not fulfill the required training for shipping biohazardous materials by land or air, which is covered in the Shipping Biological Substances Category B course.
