Intended audience

This course is required for University personnel who are expected to provide first aid in the workplace. Training is required initially, and retraining is required every two (2) years.

For UW students seeking training for personal or voluntary purposes, free American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED Certification is available through the University of Washington Emergency Medical Services.

Description

This course teaches how to provide Adult/Child/Infant CPR, use automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and give first aid for fractures, respiratory failure, and environmental emergencies such as bites, stings, hypothermia, and heat stroke. The course also addresses shock, heart conditions, and Good Samaritan laws. Participants should arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled time to check in.
