New resource to prevent exposure to respirable crystalline silica

The newly released Respirable Crystalline Silica Safety Manual outlines the responsibilities of University units, personnel and EH&S to protect personnel from occupational respirable crystalline silica exposure. It contains guidelines and procedures for exposure control, respiratory protection, and medical evaluations.

University units with personnel who work with crystalline silica-containing materials, including asphalt, brick, cement, concrete, drywall, plaster, mortar, rock, gravel, sand and soil should apply the safe work practices and guidelines for controlling exposure described in the Respirable Crystalline Silica Safety Manual. EH&S can provide consultation and conduct air monitoring for exposure assessment upon request by University units and/or as necessary.
